How many Powerwalls you need

A single Powerwall 3 backs up essential loads and whole homes with modest demand. Larger homes, or homes that want to run air conditioning and an EV charger through an outage, may need two or more units. Sizing to your actual loads is the biggest driver, which is why we do it on-site.

What your panel and service need

If your main panel is undersized, disorganized, or needs grounds separated from neutrals, that work becomes part of the project. Many older homes in our area need some panel work to interconnect a battery cleanly.

Battery only, or battery plus solar plus EV

A battery-only install on an existing service is the simplest scope. Pairing the battery with existing solar or stacking it with a new EV charger adds integration work. We quote each piece clearly so you can choose your scope.

Maintenance and lifespan

A Powerwall has no moving parts, no fuel to store, and essentially no routine maintenance, which is a real contrast with a standby generator that needs oil changes, filter service, and periodic exercise cycles. It updates over the air via the Tesla app and comes with a Tesla product warranty, so after installation, your ongoing cost and effort are close to zero.

Correct Gateway and interconnection wiring

The Tesla Gateway is the brain that detects the outage and isolates your home from the grid. It has to be wired and configured correctly, with the backup loads on the right side of the Gateway, or the system will not perform as expected when the power fails. This is where certification shows, and where we most often correct other companies' mistakes.

Separating grounds from neutrals and cleaning up the panel

Battery interconnection frequently exposes an older panel where grounds and neutrals are improperly combined. We separate them onto isolated bars and reorganize the panel as part of the job, because a battery is only as safe as the service it ties into. Pairing a battery with existing solar the right way

Adding a battery to an existing solar system means coordinating the inverter, the battery, and the Gateway so solar keeps charging the battery during an outage. Done wrong, the solar simply shuts off, and the battery drains. Our Alternative Energy license and NABCEP certification exist for exactly this interconnection work.

Load management for battery, solar, and EV together

When a home has a battery, solar, and an EV charger, those systems must share the service without overloading the service. We configure load management so your EV does not drain the battery you are saving for the outage, and so the whole stack operates within your service capacity.

A battery and its conduit are visible on a wall for years, so the installation should look intentional.
